Introducing Our New Montessori Elementary School Program

Monarch Montessori exists to develop the minds of children using the Montessori technique. Our educational programs are designed to foster independence, curiosity, kindness, respect, and a life-long love of learning in every child we teach. To further our mission, we are excited to announce that we have expanded our curriculum to include elementary education.

The Montessori Elementary curriculum is available to students currently enrolled at the Monarch Montessori school as well as new students who are interested in attending one of the best private schools in Passaic County, NJ.

Let’s dive deeper into the specific areas of knowledge that will be covered in our elementary education program:

Math

Using the Montessori manipulative math materials, children will be introduced to the four basic math functions of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Once they have grasped a basic understanding of the concepts, they will practice and then apply the concepts to everyday situations until they have mastered the concepts. Our elementary math curriculum will also cover topics such as fractions, word problems, telling time, money, and measurement.

Geometry

To build upon the topics covered in the primary Montessori environment, our elementary geometry curriculum will provide a more in-depth study of topics such as lines, points, and angles. Children will expand upon their prior knowledge and explore the study of written nomenclature and the drawing and measuring of shapes.

Language

Our elementary reading curriculum will begin with mastering attack work skills that are developed through the learning, practice, and application of phonograms and sight words. Writing will be introduced to children using the Zaner-Bloser method of letter information to practice manuscript and script writing techniques. Children will develop their spelling skills directly through the mastery of the reading and writing curriculum. They will practice dictionary usage skills to help them with spelling, definitions, pronunciations, and derivations.

Cultural

Our elementary school program will cover cultural topics such as science, social studies, geography, and history. Since these subjects allow for endless opportunities for research, students will use atlases, globes, maps, encyclopedias, video, and other research tools to not only gain subject-specific knowledge but also develop their observational skills. Our elementary school program doesn’t stop at covering basic areas of knowledge; it extends far beyond to include areas such as art, music, physical education, and American Sign Language.
